Westchester Begins Bus Security Campaign

A new advertising campaign in a county in New York’s Hudson Valley calls for citizen vigilance.

The “If You See Something, Say Something” ad campaign in the New York City transit system that began after the September 11th terrorist attacks has been adapted for Westchester County. County Executive Rob Astorino says the advertising is for the county’s Bee-Line bus system, and uses humor to relay a serious message. It plays on the word Bee, that’s B-e-e, from Bee line, and cautions bus riders to “Bee Aware”. The $433,000 “Bee Aware” campaign was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Ads will appear on buses and bus shelters, as well as in print and on radio. Astorino says the Boston Marathon bombings are a tragic reminder to not become casual in efforts to prevent terrorism.
