POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — The principal of a Hudson Valley high school and another administrator are on leave as the district investigates whether some students were given improper accommodations during Regents exams.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the investigation started after staffers noticed dramatic differences in some students' Regents scores in January compared to June. Poughkeepsie High School students who had failed an exam in June were retaking it in January. Investigators are looking into reports of students having been given extended time for taking the three-hour test, and other accommodations. According to Superintendent Dr. Laval Wilson, the investigation started last month after Central Office administrators began a routine verification of test data. Principal Edgar Glascott said he and an assistant principal volunteered to take an administrative leave while an investigation takes place.
