Echoes of Tradition: Artist Demonstration
Echoes of Tradition: Artist Demonstration
Anita Ferguson from Tuscarora Nation is well known for her velvet and beadwork collars and cuffs, and traditional outfits. She uses the embossed, or raised beadwork technique employed by Tuscarora women as far back as the 1800s. This is the first time the Museum will showcase Anita’s skills. These events are made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum & Library Services, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and friends and members of the Iroquois Museum.
