Echoes of Tradition: Artist Demonstration

Echoes of Tradition: Artist Demonstration - Samantha Jacobs from Seneca Cattaraugus Reservation produces fully beaded western style and Northeast style gathered toe moccasins using buffalo, moose, deer, and elk hide, as well as traditional Haudenosaunee center seam form constructed from a single piece of leather. Her most recent investigations include extravagant knee length mukluks with raised beadwork, fur, moosehair embroidery and tufting. These events are made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum & Library Services, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and friends and members of the Iroquois Museum.
