Democracy Rocks! benefit concert/rally for Indivisible
Stand up for democracy and have a blast! The largest grassroots effort to rise up for democracy in the region this summer will be an August 17 benefit concert/rally for Indivisible Hurley/Woodstock and Indivisible Ulster at the Colony in Woodstock from 2-7:30 p.m.
Performers will include: Founding B-52s member Kate Pierson with Ken Maiuri; folk rock, blues and country musician Larry Campbell; Bowie vocalist and bass player Gail Ann Dorsey; jazz and blues musicians The Bruce Katz Band; blues legend Guy Davis; singer/songwriter Simi Stone with Philip Marshall; and local favorites the Bob Cats with Jerry Marotta.
Also present will be: New York State Assemblywoman Sarahana Shrestha; Ulster County Executive Jen Metzge; Father Frank Alagna (founder of the Ulster Immigrant Defense Network); and representatives of the New York American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood, the New York Abortion Access Network, and Ulster County Democrats. Voter registration will be held onsite.
It costs money to take down an autocracy and the event’s proceeds will help Indivisible Hurley/Woodstock and Indivisible Ulster fund pro-democracy billboards, large-scale demonstrations in our community, Ulster Rapid Response’s ICE watch, launch an Indivisible podcast for the Hudson Valley, and rent office space in Kingston.
