Former Mayoral Candidate Found Guilty Of Filing False Petitions

@ernest4troy

A former Troy mayoral candidate could be headed to jail.

Renssealaer County D.A. Joel Abelove says after a three-day trial, 34-year old Ernest Everett was convicted by a jury of three counts of Offering A False Instrument for Filing. The jury found Everett falsified documents when he signed the oath on his designating petitions, swearing he was present and that voters identified themselves to him, then filing the petitions to get on the ballot for Troy's 2015 Democratic mayoral primary.

Everett, who finished third in a three-way primary, is to be sentenced in January and faces up to a year in the Rensselaer County Jail.
