A downtown Albany charter school is moving to more spacious digs.

Green Tech High Charter School, a public not-for-profit charter high school for young men in grades nine through twelve, has entered a lease agreement with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany for the former Bishop Maginn campus at 99 Slingerland Street, Albany.  Fall classes will be held there.

Green Tech will  shutter its present facility at 321 Northern Boulevard.  Officials say the move provides Green Tech with the ability to direct more of its funding into its academic program, and alleviates space limitations at its current facility.

Green Tech opened in 2008 and enrolls around 350 students each year.  In February 2016, Green Tech was awarded a five-year renewal of its charter by the State University of New York.
