Albany, NY – In today's Academic Minute, Professor Mary Ellen O'Connell of the University of Notre Dame discusses the CIA's use of armed drones and the legal implications of their wider use by the United States and other nations.
Mary Ellen O'Connell is the Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law and Research Professor of International Dispute Resolution at the University of Notre Dame. She earned her J.D. from Columbia University where she served as book review editor for the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.
Professor O'Connell's primary research focuses on international legal regulation of the use of force and conflict and dispute resolution, especially peaceful resolution of disputes prior to an escalation to armed conflict. She has authored more than sixty articles and book chapters and in 2008 published The Power and Purpose of International Law.
