Albany, NY – In today's Academic Minute, Dr. Chad Williams of Hamilton College discusses World War I and how the experiences of African American draftees shaped a generation's expectations about democracy in America.
Dr. Chad Williams earned his Ph.D. at Princeton University and currently holds the position of Associate Professor of History at Hamilton College. His specific teaching and research interests include World War I and African American intellectual history and the African diaspora. In 2010 he authored Torchbearers of Democracy: African American Soldiers in the World War I Era.
