NATIONAL POETRY MONTH
"MY HIPPOS HAS THE HICCUPS" -
When Vegetables Are Angry My Car Is Constructed of Pickles Don't Ever Bite Your Sister I Cloned Myself On Friday Night.
With titles like these, it's easy to see why young children all across America love the poetry of Kenn Nesbitt.
Nesbitt's new collection, "My Hippo Has The Hiccups", includes 120 poems with cool, colorful, and funny illustrations by Ethan Long, to help bring the poetry to life. Plus, "My Hippo" also comes with a CD full of exceptional performances of the poems in the book.
This newest collection of poetry has just been released to coincide with National Poetry Month.

BOOK BANK
SISTER POWER: AFTERSCHOOL TUTORING AND MENTORING CENTER -
As we said earlier, this is National Poetry Month. And since we've been talking about literacy, we wanted to let you know as well about a book bank that's distributed as many as 50-million books to school children.
Teaching your child how to read without a book is a problem for many American families who simply cannot afford children's books.
But there's an innovative after-school program in New York City's East Harlem overcoming that obstacle. It's called Sister Power. Children love coming to the storefront's library to read. Then, if they like the book, they can keep it.
Another organization, First Book, works with publishers to secure the overstocked books they then donate to children, like those served by Sister Power.
