An Ulster County dentist was arrested Tuesday, accused of illegally dispensing controlled substances outside the course of professional practice and for no legitimate medical purpose.
Acting U.S. Attorney Antoinette Bacon of the Northern District of New York says 62-year-old Vivian Letizia of Stone Ridge wrote oxycodone prescriptions for four patients and filled the prescriptions herself at local pharmacies, and ordered the drug to her dental practice for personal consumption.
If convicted, Letizia faces up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a maximum $1 million fine. She was released awaiting trial. Letizia has been a WAMC underwriter.
