Countering Problem Gambling Explored At Albany Conference

Over the years, gambling has moved from the back rooms of candy stores and the illegal numbers racket to legalized multi-million dollar casinos no longer confined to Las Vegas. That expansion has led to an increase in the number of problem gamblers. A two-day conference is under way at the Capital Center in Albany, where counselors, social workers and psychologists are discussing the latest treatments for the addiction. One of the organizers is Kimberly Eisen, the program director of the National Association of Social Workers-New York State branch.
