The Tioga Downs casino in the Southern Tier is celebrating progress on its expansion project.

Tioga held a "topping off" ceremony Monday to mark work done so far on its multi-million dollar expansion.

The racetrack and video casino, 30 miles west of Binghamton, was recommended last year for a fourth upstate New York license for a full casino. A final decision is pending.

Licenses have already been issued for casinos in Schenectady, the Catskills and the Finger Lakes.

Before joining WAMC, Dave was a reporter and anchor at WGY in Schenectady. In 2012, Dave received a Communicator Award of Distinction for his WAMC news story "Fail: The NYS Flood Panel," which explores whether the damage from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee could have been prevented or at least curbed. Dave began his radio career as a “morning personality” at WABY in Albany.
