The Columbia-Green Partnership Academy in Hudson, NY also known as The Bridge, has received a $25,000 award to provide its students with workforce training. The grant from the Columbia-Greene County Workforce Investment Board will be used through June to employ some of the school’s 58 students. Bruce Potter is superintendent of Berkshire Union Free School District which partnered with Hudson and Catskill school districts to open the school this past February.

“So as an enticement to some of these businesses to get involved with us, we will have the capacity to pay for a student’s first month of work,” said Potter.

Money will also be used to be hiring two part-time job coaches for students.

The workforce curriculum program is an expansion of ongoing efforts at Berkshire Union’s Canaan, NY school where 142 at-risk youth were employed last year.
