Kingston comprehensive plan gets closer look

KINGSTON – It has been decades since the City of Kingston’s comprehensive plan was drafted. It is up for review and modernizing given the changing landscape of the region and the rest of the world.

Mayor Shayne Gallo embarked on a “new citywide revitalization campaign” when he took office one year ago.

“It will serve as a blueprint for the city’s economic development for its future taking into account historical significance and architecture districts along with zoning, issues that are pertinent in particular since (Hurricane) Sandy down at the waterfront in terms of our storm water and our issues that are affecting our infrastructure,” Gallo said.

The comprehensive plan process was authorized by the city council in 2011 and a committee, chaired by Council President James Noble, was appointed to guide the program.

The public will be updated on the current process at a City Hall meeting at 6 p.m. on January 31.
