Massachusetts to Get $4.6M from Feds for Irene Repairs

Boston, MA – Massachusetts is receiving $4.6 million in federal highway funds to cover emergency road repairs made after the remnants of Hurricane Irene hit the state. WAMC's Tristan O'Neill reports...

The grant, announced on Tuesday, will help more than a dozen communities in western and southeastern Massachusetts.

The town of Westport will get up to $350,000 to repair damage the August storm caused to East Beach Road.

The Franklin County town of Colrain will receive $500,000 for repairs to Adamsville Road, while Conway will get $275,000 for road and culvert repairs in that town.

Other communities sharing in the grant include Buckland, Charlemont, Heath, Adams, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, North Adams, Peru, Savoy and Tyringham.
