Patrick said his appointee to the powerful post, Stephen Crosby, possesses the integrity and the management skills the job requires. Crosby said he was deeply flattered by the appointment.
Crosby, who is head of a policy center at U-Mass Boston, acknowledged that when he was the state's budget chief, under Governor Paul Cellucci, he had reservations about introducing casinos to Massachusetts, but he said his position has now evolved.
The gaming law signed three weeks ago by Governor Partrick authorizes up to three resort casinos. The five member commission awards the licenses. The other members of the commission have yet to be named.
