Montpelier, VT – The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has received nearly 6,700 applications for disaster assistance in Vermont following Irene. WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more...

A FEMA spokeswoman told the Burlington Free Press she's sure there are people who have yet to register.

Vermont residents have until November 15 to apply for assistance.

Federal officials have been advertising the number to call for assistance on hay wagons and cardboard sleeves for hot drinks, since billboards aren't allowed in the state.

I'm Pat Bradley, WAMC News.
