Boston, MA – More than a quarter of a million Massachusetts electric customers are still without power in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene. WAMC's Tristan O'Neill reports...
National Grid reports this morning that nearly 180,000 of its customers are still without power, with Brockton, Attleboro and Stoughton among the communities especially hard hit.
NStar cut the number of its customers without power overnight by about half and is reporting 84,000 outages this morning. The South Shore and Cape Cod are the hardest hit areas.
Western Massachusetts Electric Company is reporting just scattered outages.
Officials warned that it could take several days to get power back on for everyone.
