Pittsfield, MA – At the kick-off of his statewide tour Wednesday, Republican Massachusetts U.S. Senator Scott Brown called for bi-partisan cooperation towards improving the nation's economy. WAMC's Patrick Donges reports...
Brown spoke before members of the Berkshire County Chamber of Commerce Wednesday afternoon in Pittsfield, addressing what he called the "partisan rancor" in Washington that S&P blamed in part for their decision to downgrade U.S. credit.
While touting a record of bi-partisan cooperation, Brown also criticized the actions of Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who he indicated may be a cause of gridlock.
"He doesn't allow any amendments and then they vote and then they say, 'Why didn't you support it?' Because none of us, Democrat or Republican, could have our amendments heard."
"We're getting into this ideological partisan bickering. Me and others, we're not going to play that game."
The next stop on Brown's jobs tour will be this morning in Mansfield.
