Boston, MA – US Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts says he is planning to run for a sixth term and has started fundraising for a 2014 campaign. WAMC's Paul Tuthill reports...

Meeting with reporters in Boston Thursday, Kerry dismissed rumors he was positioning to be appointed Secretary of State if President Obama is re-elected in 2012.

The current Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has said she does not plan to stay on for a second term.

Kerry, who is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was first reelected to the US Senate from Massachusetts in 1984. He was the Democratic Presidential nominee in 2004.

When asked about his plans, Kerry told reporters "This is the job I want - this is the job I enjoy doing."
