There are more than 80 student farms at colleges in the United States and Canada. One of the first student farms at a liberal arts college was at Hampshire College in Amherst Massachusetts. Biologist and Hampshire College Professor Emeritus Ray Coppinger contributed an essay for a new book : " Fields of Learning: The Student Farm Movement In North America" . WAMC"s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Coppinger about the history of Hampshire's Farm Center.
