SPAC - Yaddo

Yaddo has hosted thousands of artists, including James Baldwin, Leonard Bernstein , Truman Capote, John Cheever, Aaron Copland, Ruth Heller, Patricia Highsmith, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Philip Roth, Mario Puzo, Flannery O'Connor, and Anne Truitt. Just to name a few.

Yaddo is an artists' community located on a 400 acre estate in Saratoga Springs, New York. Its mission is "to nurture the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment.”

This morning we are joined by Lesley Leduc, Public Affairs Coordinator for Yaddo who joined the staff in 1992. She is responsible for all Yaddo publications and outreach materials, and frequently lectures about the artists’ retreat.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
Joe talks to people on the radio for a living. In addition to countless impressive human "gets" - he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.
