Albany, NY – Forty years ago, the Hudson River was ferociously polluted. Few fish swam in its waters, and the effects of industrial pollution on the fragile ecosystem were disastrous. During this time, local legend Pete Seeger and a group of activists decided to "build a boat to save the Hudson." The river has undergone an extraordinary resurgence, and owes part of its recovery to the non-profit group The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. Every year the organization hosts a large music festival in Croton-on-Hudson New York to celebrate the revival of the river. David Conover tells us about the festivities.
