The Westchester County executive is set to sign a measure that will create new rules to govern the purchase and sale of co-op apartments. The idea is to streamline the process and help combat discrimination.

The Westchester County executive signed a measure Tuesday, on Equal Pay Day, intended to help close the gender wage gap. The county’s Board of Legislators unanimously approved the provision Monday. And New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he is advancing similar legislation.

Eight Democratic members of the Westchester County Board of Legislators allege Republican County Executive Rob Astorino is missing in action, and are calling for a special election. 

WHITE PLAINS – The US Department of Housing and Urban Development Monday threatened to reallocate $7.4 million in fiscal year 2011 funding For Westchester County's community development block grant and other federal programs.

“To date, the county has not provided satisfactory certification that it will comply with its obligation to affirmatively further fair housing as part of its FY2011 Annual Action Plan,” HUD Director of Community Planning and Development Vincent Horn wrote to County Executive Robert Astorino.
