2018 Massachusetts Election

With just a month to go before the election in Massachusetts, Republican Governor Charlie Baker and his Democratic challenger Jay Gonzalez sparred about several issues during their first televised debate Tuesday night.

    After a successful write-in campaign to secure the Democratic nomination in Massachusetts’ Hampshire, Franklin, and Worcester Senate District, Jo Comerford’s name will be on the ballot in November.

The results of Tuesday’s Democratic Primary for Berkshire County District Attorney all but guarantee the election of the first woman to the post.


      Winds of change may have blown over some of the Massachusetts political landscape Tuesday, but a longtime incumbent prevailed in a Democratic primary for Congress in the western part of the state.

Attorney Andrea Harrington declared victory in the Democratic primary for Berkshire District Attorney late Tuesday night moments after taking a concession call from incumbent DA Paul Caccaviello at her campaign party at a restaurant in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Harrington dedicated the win to her family and her supporters, offering her thanks "to everybody who voted for me, who voted in me, who believed in me, who believed that together we're going to build a new future for Berkshire County."

State Senator Adam Hinds easily fended off a primary challenge Tuesday as the Democrats seeks a second term representing the westernmost portion of Massachusetts.


Polls are open until 8 p.m. in Massachusetts today as voters narrow the field of Democrats and Republicans competing for federal, state, and county offices in the November general election.

Two Democrats, Jay Gonzalez and Bob Massie, are competing in a primary Tuesday in Massachusetts to take on what polls indicate is a seemingly impossible task: defeat the most popular governor in the country.

       One of the most watched races in western Massachusetts next Tuesday will be for the Democratic nomination in the state’s 1st Congressional District.  Many see in it elements of the national struggle over the future of the Democratic Party. It pits a white male incumbent against a woman of color, who is also a Muslim.

The first ballot question in Massachusetts this November will ask voters whether to adopt new staffing standards for hospitals around the commonwealth. WAMC spoke to both sides of the hotly contested issue.

Bills are likely to be introduced in the next session of the Massachusetts legislature that would allow doctors in certain circumstances to prescribe lethal drugs to terminally ill patients.
