Amid statewide contests, like Sen. Ed Markey besting Congressman Seth Moulton in the Democratic Senate primary, western Mass. was home to a number of primaries over seats on Beacon Hill.WAMC kept track of those races Tuesday night, as did Western Mass Politics and Insight Editor-in-Chief Matt Szafranski. He spoke with WAMC about some of those races, as well as the Congressional 1st district primary that featured Rep. Richie Neal fending off a challenge from newcomer Jeromie Whalen.

In a Massachusetts house district that stretches from the city of Springfield to more rural parts of Hampden County, a young activist is looking to unseat a state representative considered to be the dean of the western Mass. delegation.

A campaign to unseat one of the longest-serving state representatives in the Pioneer Valley is in full swing. With Democratic primaries less than a year away, a progressive community activist from Wilbraham says he hopes to represent a slice of Hampden County.
