Earlier this year, Michael Lachenmeyer (right, holding index cards) announced his plans to challenge current 12th Hampden State Representative Angelo Puppolo Jr. The community organizer formally kicked off his campaign on Nov. 15. in Springfield.

A campaign to unseat one of the longest-serving state representatives in the Pioneer Valley is in full swing. With Democratic primaries less than a year away, a progressive community activist from Wilbraham says he hopes to represent a slice of Hampden County. WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief James Paleologopoulos reports.
