The Boston Celtics needed overtime before tying the fourth-longest winning streak in team history.

Kyrie Irving poured in 10 of his season-high 47 points in the extra period to send the Celts to their 16th consecutive victory 110-102 at Dallas. The Mavericks were ahead by 13 in the fourth quarter before Boston outscored them 22-9 the rest of the period.

Irving delivered the tying basket in regulation and the Celtics' first six points of OT.

Jaylen Brown had 22 points for the Celtics, whose winning streak followed an 0-2 start.

— Will Barton and Trey Lyles made two 3-pointers apiece while the Nuggets went on a 19-7 run in the third period of a 114-98 win at Sacramento. Barton finished with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists for Denver, which played without coach Mike Malone while he served a one-game suspension for making contact with an official.

NFL-FALCONS/SEAHAWKS

The Atlanta Falcons gave their playoffs chances a big boost while damaging the Seattle Seahawks' shot at a postseason appearance.

Matt Ryan threw for two touchdowns and Adrian Clayborn returned a fumble 10 yards for a score to help the Falcons earn a 34-31 win at Seattle. Clayborn's TD put Atlanta ahead 21-7 early in the second quarter.

The Seahawks were trailing 34-23 when Russell Wilson hit Doug Baldwin on a 29-yard TD and found Jimmy Graham for a two-point conversion with 3 minutes left. Seattle got in range for a long field goal attempt by Blair Walsh in the closing moments, but his 52-yard attempt with 2 seconds left came up short.

Both teams are now 6-4.

NFL-NEWS

Former Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots receiver Terry Glenn has died following a one-vehicle accident near Dallas that left his fiancée slightly injured. He was 43.

A police spokeswoman says Glenn was driving when the vehicle left the highway, struck a concrete barrier and rolled. Irving police are investigating the cause of the wreck, which occurred just after midnight Monday.

Glenn played for the Pats, Packers and Cowboys from 1996-07 following a standout career at Ohio State.

In other NFL news:

— The Bears have waived kicker Connor Barth and signed former Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos. The moves come a day after Barth missed a potential game-tying kick in the closing seconds of Chicago's 27-24 loss to Detroit.

— Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert has received a four-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's performance-enhancers policy. Gilbert is banned from the team's facility until after the Steelers face New England on Dec. 17.

— Saints defensive end Alex Okafor will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon during the fourth quarter of Sunday's comeback victory over Washington. Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed the loss of Okafor, who had 4 1/2 sacks, five tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits and two forced fumbles in 10 games this season.

— Browns defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah needs surgery on his broken right foot and will require up to four months of recovery. Ogbah said Monday that he suffered a non-contact injury in Sunday's 19-7 loss to Jacksonville.

— Blaine Gabbert will remain the Cardinals' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against Jacksonville. Gabbert made his first start of the season yesterday and completed 22 of 34 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 31-21 loss to Houston. He was the Cardinals' No. 3 signal caller until injuries to starter Carson Palmer and backup Drew Stanton elevated Gabbert.

— Bills coach Sean McDermott says he's still evaluating whether to give Nathan Peterman another start or return to Tyrod Taylor for Buffalo's game at Kansas City on Sunday. Peterman's first NFL start was a disaster as he threw five interceptions before being replaced by Taylor in the second half of Sunday's 54-24 loss to the Chargers.

— Broncos head coach Vance Joseph has fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave. Denver has lost six straight, the team's longest skid in 27 years.

T25 BASKETBALL-POLLS

— The order is a little jumbled, but the top 10 remain the same in the latest Associated Press men's basketball poll.

Duke remains No. 1, followed by Arizona, Kansas, Michigan St. and Villanova. The Wildcats and Jayhawks moved up one spot with the Spartans' loss to the Blue Devils last Tuesday.

Duke took 54 of 65 first-place votes and Arizona claimed the others.

Sixth-ranked Wichita State is followed by Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina and Southern California.

Connecticut remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the women's poll, ahead of Texas, South Carolina, Louisville and UCLA. Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Baylor, Ohio State and Oregon round out the top 10.

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley also stripped captain status from Mayfield for the game, the result of which won't keep the Sooners out of the Big 12 championship.

Kansas team captains did not shake hands with Mayfield before Saturday's game, leading him to jaw with the Jayhawks and their fans. Mayfield later grabbed his crotch and cursed the Kansas sideline from his bench during the third quarter.

NHL-SCHEDULE

The Toronto Maple Leafs carried a six-game winning streak into their game against the league's worst team. The streak is over after Antti Raanta stopped 26 shots to send the Coyotes to their third straight win, 4-1 at Toronto.

Raanta blanked the Leafs after James van Riemsdyk scored on a power-play to tie the game 33 seconds into the second period. Oliver Ekman-Larsson countered with a power-play goal late in the second to put the Coyotes ahead to stay.

Max Domi and Tobias Rieder added empty-netters for the Coyotes, who still own the NHL's worst record at 5-15-3 despite their winning streak.

Elsewhere on NHL ice:

MLB-JAPAN POSTING AGREEMENT

The Major League Baseball Players Association has extended its deadline by a day to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday for an agreement on a new posting system between MLB and its Japanese counterpart. The deal would allow star pitcher-outfielder Shohei Ohtani to be put up for bid.

MLB and Nippon Professional Baseball reached agreement several weeks ago on the framework of a new agreement. The Japanese club would get a maximum $20 million posting fee, and any MLB club willing to bid that amount would be able to negotiate with Otani for 30 days.

A person familiar with the terms told The Associated Press that starting next offseason, the fee would be 15 percent of the guarantee of a major league contract and 20 percent of the signing bonus if a player is subject to bonus pools.

They are joined by Johan Santana, Chris Carpenter, Jamie Moyer, Andruw Jones and Carlos Lee, along with Kevin Millwood, Carlos Zambrano and Johnny Damon.
