In the NBA, Portland bested Brooklyn 112-104, Utah won against Houston in overtime 117-114, Sacramento beat Denver 114-110, Orlando defeated Philadelphia 124-115, and it was Washington over New Orleans 109-89.
The Memphis Grizzlies say center Marc Gasol (gah-SAHL') will miss the rest of this season after having surgery on Saturday to repair his broken right foot.Gasol averaged 16.6 points and 7.0 rebounds in 52 games this season before missing the Grizzlies' last three contests. He scored 11 points in the first quarter Feb. 8 against Portland before leaving with the injury. General manager Chris Wallace said in a statement that a full recovery is expected.
Kyrie Irving has received an apology from Hilton Hotels after the Cleveland Cavaliers guard said he was bitten by bed bugs during his stay in Oklahoma City last weekend. Irving played just nine minutes the next day and later said it was because he discovered the bugs and slept on the couch instead of his bed. He said he had just three hours of sleep and had tightness in his back afterward.
NHL:
In the NHL, New Jersey topped the Rangers 5-2, the Islanders won against Minnesota 4-1, Carolina beat Philadelphia 3-1, Tampa Bay edged Arizona 2-1, Detroit defeated Columbus in a shootout 2-1, Ottawa bested Edmonton 4-1, Dallas topped Winnipeg 5-3, and it was Los Angeles over Calgary 2-1.
Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan says veteran defenseman Ben Lovejoy is dealing with a "long term" upper body injury and is out indefinitely. The 32-year-old Lovejoy left last Saturday's loss to Tampa Bay midway through the second period following a collision with Lightning forward J.T. Brown. Lovejoy has three goals and nine points with a plus-9 in 57 games for the Penguins this season.
The Washington Capitals have acquired more blueline depth as they try to wrap up the Presidents' Trophy. The Buffalo Sabres have shipped stay-at-home defenseman Mike Weber to the Caps for a third-round pick in next year's NHL draft. The Sabres retained half of Weber's salary and cap hit in the transaction. Weber has blocked 666 shots since entering the league in 2007-08.
MLB:
The Colorado Rockies will continue their spring training workouts without the services of Jose Reyes.The four-time All-Star shortstop has been placed on paid leave pending completion of criminal proceedings. Reyes is the first major leaguer to be penalized under baseball's new domestic violence policy.
The 32-year-old Reyes was arrested in Hawaii at a Maui resort on Oct. 31 following an argument with his wife. The 13-year veteran pleaded not guilty to a charge of abuse of a family or household member and is scheduled for a trial starting April 4, the day the Rockies open the season at Arizona. Major League Baseball says Commissioner Rob Manfred will decide on discipline after the proceedings and an MLB investigation. Discipline is not dependent on a criminal conviction.
MLB - Spring Training:
A three-team trade that would have sent Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce to the Toronto Blue Jays appears to have fallen through.
The deal would have sent outfielder Michael Saunders to the Los Angeles Angels, with the Reds getting minor league prospects. Saunders participated in workouts on Tuesday after missing all but nine games last season with a lingering left knee injury.Angels general manager Billy Eppler wouldn't confirm that a medical problem with one of the players in the proposed deal caused it to come apart.
Bruce is one of the Reds' few remaining high-salaried players following the departures of Aroldis Chapman, Johnny Cueto, Mike Leake, Todd Frazier and Marlon Byrd since the middle of last season.

Red Sox right-hander Koji Uehara was back on the field yesterday after being sidelined with a sinus infection. Also, Joe Kelly threw his first bullpen session. Kelly's wife gave birth to the couple's son last week. The right-handed pitcher's arrival at camp was delayed until Monday.
David Ortiz hopes his 20th and final big league season will be up to the standard he has set for himself. Big Papi announced in November on his 40th birthday that he planned to retire after 2016. A nine-time All-Star, Ortiz helped the Red Sox win the 2004 World Series for their first title since 1918, and then added championships in 2007 and 2013. He hit .273 last year with 37 homers and 108 RBIs.
Closer Aroldis Chapman has rejoined the New York Yankees after missing a day of spring training while tending to a family matter in Miami. He says he hasn't heard from Major League Baseball about possible discipline under the sport's new domestic violence policy. Chapman is under investigation for an incident in October at his house in Florida involving his girlfriend. Prosecutors declined to file charges.
NFL:
Robert Griffin III's time with the Washington Redskins is just about over. Team president Bruce Allen doesn't think Griffin will be with the team next season, telling San Diego radio station 1090 AM that he sees RGIII getting an opportunity with another team. Allen added that he thinks the team has heard from other franchises that are interested, giving Griffin a chance to play elsewhere. The 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year didn't play a down for Washington last season, and was only active for one game.
The San Francisco 49ers have signed tight end Garrett Celek to a four-year contract extension, preventing him from becoming an unrestricted free agent next month. Celek played 11 games last season and started eight for San Francisco, catching 19 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns before missing the final month with an ankle injury. The four-year pro has 27 career receptions for 328 yards and three touchdowns in 39 games.
The San Diego Chargers say they want to focus on getting a new stadium built as part of a non-contiguous expansion of the downtown convention center. The measure could face strong opposition if any funding would require approval of two-thirds of the voters on the November ballot. Mayor Kevin Faulconer and County Commissioner Ron Roberts had preferred a new stadium be built at the site of aging Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley.
Tennis:
The roster for the U.S. Davis Cup team has been announced. John Isner, Jack Sock and the Bryan twins will represent the United States against Australia in the first round of play next month. The winner of this first-round matchup will face Belgium or Croatia in the quarterfinals in July.
NCAA:
The second-ranked Kansas Jayhawks have an eight-game winning streak after winning a tough battle against No. 19 Baylor.
Frank Mason III scored 19 points and Perry Ellis had 15 as the Jayhawks pulled out a 66-60 win over the Bears in Waco, Texas. Landen Lucas put Kansas ahead to stay with a tiebreaking layup with 3:03 remaining. Lucas had 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks, who lead the Big 12 Conference by two games over West Virginia with three games remaining.Al Freeman hit four 3-poiners and finished with 17 points for Baylor.

— Bryn Forbes hit six 3-pointers while scoring 20 of his 27 points in the second half of sixth-ranked Michigan State's 81-62 win at Ohio State. Denzel Valentine added 17 points and eight assists as the Spartans won for the seventh time in eight games.
— Jamal Murray scored 23 points and Tyler Ulis (YOO'-lihs) added 19 and 10 assists as No. 16 Kentucky hammered Alabama 78-53. Alex Poythress finished with 14 points in his first action since missing five games with a right knee injury.
