NFL:
The NFC and AFC title games are set following victories by the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts. The Packers will take on the Seahawks in Seattle next Sunday after the Colts visit the New England Patriots.
Yesterday, Aaron Rodgers completed 24 of his 35 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers downed Dallas 26-21 in the NFC divisional playoffs. The Cowboys came close to taking the lead on the next possession, but Tony Romo's pass to Dez Bryant near the goal line was ruled an incompletion following replay, giving the ball back to the Packers on downs with 4:06 left.
The Indianapolis Colts went into Denver and knocked off the Broncos 24-13 in the AFC divisional playoffs as Andrew Luck completed 27 of his 43 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Luck's second scoring strike was a 15-yard toss to Hakeem Nicks, putting the Colts ahead 21-13 midway through the third quarter.
On Saturday, New England bested Baltimore in Foxboro 35-31, and Seattle topped Carolina 31-17.
A person familiar with discussions tells The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that Rex Ryan has agreed to coach the Buffalo Bills. (The person says the agreement was reached yesterday, a day after Ryan had a second interview with the team in South Florida, where Bills new owners Terry and Kim Pegula live.)
NBA:
In the NBA, Atlanta bested Washington 120-89, Miami topped the Clippers 104-90, Memphis beat Phoenix in double overtime 122-110, Sacramento won against Cleveland 103-84, and it was Portland over the Lakers 106-94.
NHL:
Over on the ice, Florida doubled up Edmonton 4-2, Chicago topped Minnesota 4-1, and it was Anaheim over Winnipeg in a shootout 5-4.
NCAA:
In men's college basketball, Quinnipiac topped Marist 66-54, Massachusetts squeaked by George Mason 66-62, and Fairfield topped Siena 79-67.
In Top 25 women’s college basketball, No. 2 UConn crushed SMU 87-28. No. 4 Notre Dame blew out Boston College 104-58.
