Sports Report: Colts, Cowboys, Ravens, Panthers Are Victors In The Wild-Card Playoffs

NFL:

Tony Romo threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Williams with 2:32 remaining to lead the Dallas Cowboys past Detroit 24-20 in Sunday's NFC wild-card game. The Cowboys trailed 14-0 in the second quarter and 20-7 in the third before earning the right to take on the Packers at Green Bay in the NFC divisional playoffs next Sunday. Romo was 19 of 31 for 293 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, and Williams had three receptions for 93 yards and two scores.

Andrew Luck threw for 376 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 26-10 triumph over Cincinnati. Indy led 13-10 at halftime, but Luck changed the game by floating a perfect 36-yard TD pass to Donte Moncrief as Luck was falling down in the third quarter. Daniel "Boom" Herron ran for another TD and Adam Vinatieri hit four field goals to help the Colts set up a meeting against the Broncos in Denver next Sunday.

On Saturday, Baltimore topped the Ravens 30-17 are up against New England at 4:35 the following Saturday. Carolina beat Arizona 27-16 and will see the Seahawks at 8:15, Saturday January 10.

ESPN says longtime "SportsCenter" anchor Stuart Scott has died. The network says Scott died yesterday at age 49. He had fought cancer since a diagnosis in late 2007. ESPN president John Skipper says Scott was "a true friend and a uniquely inspirational figure" and that his death "leaves a void that can never be replaced."

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the St. Louis rams are planning a move back to Los Angeles after stadium plans were revealed earlier this morning.

NBA:

In the NBA, Milwaukee beat New York 95-82 for the Knicks’ 10th straight home loss and 11th in a row overall, Miami bested Brooklyn 88-84, Dallas topped Cleveland 109-90, Detroit won against Sacramento 114-95, Phoenix defeated Toronto 125-109, and it was the Lakers over Indiana 88-87.

NHL:

Over on the ice, Carolina beat Boston in a shootout 2-1, Washington edged Florida 4-3, Tampa Bay doubled up Ottawa 4-2, Columbus topped Colorado 4-3, Chicago skated past Dallas in overtime 5-4, Anaheim bested Nashville in a shootout 4-3, and it was Edmonton over the Islanders 5-2.
