Four Score and Teixeira Grand Slams In Yanks 7-4 Victory

In baseball news, checking the American League, Mark Teixeira hit a grand slam for his first homer of the season, Brett Gardner had a tiebreaking single in the sixth inning and the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 7-4 Monday night to spoil Nick Swisher's first game back in the Bronx. Andy Pettitte lasted only 4 2-3 innings in a wild return from the disabled list — his 500th career start. Elsewhere, it was Houston over the Angels 2-1 and Seattle doubled up the White Sox 4-2.

In the National League, Philadelphia beat Miami 7-2. Cincinnati blanked Colorado 3-0. Atlanta defeated Pittsburgh 7-2. St. Louis won against Arizona 7-1 and the Dodgers bested San Diego 2-1.

Lastly, Oakland cruised ahead of Milwaukee 10-2 in interleague play.

Moving over to the NBA playoffs, where it was a big night for Miami. The Heat are in the finals for the third straight year after clobbering the Indiana Pacers 99-76 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. Miami trailed by a basket before outscoring the Pacers 33-16 in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead. LeBron James poured in a game-high 32 points, grabbed eight rebounds, accumulated four assists, had two steals and blocked a shot.  Dwyane Wade added 21 points and nine assists for the Heat. The Heat will have home-court advantage for the finals against San Antonio. Elsewhere, the Knicks say Jason Kidd has decided to retire from the NBA after 19 seasons.

In the NHL playoffs, the Bruins crushed the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-1 last night to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals.
