In the first round of the NFL draft, the first three players chosen were offensive linemen. No running back was taken in the first round, the first time that's happened in 40 years. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Eric Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars took 6-foot-6, 306-pound Luke Joeckel, an offensive tackle from Texas A&M, with the second pick. The Dolphins chose Oregon's 6-foot-6 linebacker Dion Jordan third and Philadelphia chose offensive tackle Lane Johnson out of Oklahoma.

Closer to home, the New York Jets took Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner. Buffalo chose Florida State's E.J. Manuel at No. 16. He was the first quarterback chosen. Lastly, the Giants selected Syracuse offensive tackle Justin Pugh at No. 19. West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith and Manti Te’o were not picked.

In the NBA, Chicago has taken a 2-1 series lead against Brooklyn with a 79-76 win over the Nets. Carlos Boozer had 22 points and 16 rebounds. Miami topped Milwaukee 104-91 and Memphis beat the Clippers 94-82. As a reminder, the third game between the Knicks and Celtics is at 8:00 p.m.

Checking baseball news, in the American League, Boston defeated Houston 7-2. The Yankees outscored Toronto 5-3. Detroit fell to Kansas City 8-3. The White Sox bested Tampa Bay 5-2. Texas beat Minnesota 2-1. Baltimore crushed Oakland 10-2 and Seattle shut out the Angels 6-0.

In the National League, the Mets lost to the Dodgers 3-2. Washington won against Cincinnati 8-1. The Cubs beat Miami 4-3 and Arizona bested Colorado 3-2.

In the NHL, Philadelphia beat the NY Islanders 2-1. The NY Rangers past Carolina 4-3. Boston shut out Tampa Bay 2-0. New Jersey edged ahead of Pittsburgh 3-2 and Montreal doubled up Winnipeg 4-2.
