In the NBA All-Star game in Houston last night, the West triumphed over the East 143-138. Kevin Durant scored 30 points, making him the top scorer. Game MVP Chris Paul finished with 20 points, 15 assists and four steals while Clippers teammate Blake Griffin added 19 points on 9 of 11 shooting.

Checking the NHL now, defenseman Paul Martin scored with 2:04 left to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Derek Stepan's power-play goal early in the third period snapped a tie and completed the New York Rangers' rally to a 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals.

In top 25 college basketball, third-ranked Miami struggled afternoon before keeping its perfect conference record intact winning 45-43 over Clemson.

Fourth-ranked Michigan edged ahead of Penn State 79-71.

Ninth-ranked Arizona defeated Utah 68-64.

No. 12  Louisville beat South Florida 59-41.

And 20th-ranked Wisconsin slaughtered 13th-ranked Ohio St. 71-49.

In other college hoops news, Siena College’s athletic director is disputing a report in the Washington Post that says the basketball team could be invited to the “Catholic 7” conference after the Big East’s realignment.

The University at Albany men’s lacrosse team beat 13th-ranked Syracuse 16-15 in double overtime, giving the Great Danes their first win against the Orange.

John Merrick has claimed his first PGA victory and a berth in the upcoming Masters in the Northern Open at Riviera Country Club.

Finally, Danica Patrick's performance is the first woman ever to pole for any race in NASCAR's premier circuit, getting the pole in this weekend's Daytona 500.
