Vermont U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy spoke on the chamber floor Monday afternoon in remembrance of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Leahy, a Democrat, reminisced about Ginsburg’s career and noted that she was in Vermont in 1993 when President Bill Clinton called to tell her she was his choice to serve on the Supreme Court.

Leahy said over her three decades on the Supreme Court Ginsburg was the voice for the voiceless.  “My vote for her confirmation to the Supreme Court is among the most consequential and impactful I have cast as a Senator.  She gave hope to people she would never meet.”

Leahy, the dean of the Senate, lambasted Republicans’ rush to name a replacement hours after Ginsburg’s death.
