Elected officials in Springfield, Massachusetts have announced a plan to survey public opinion to help guide their policy decisions.
Springfield City Councilor Kateri Walsh is leading the initiative called “Council Connections.” She worked with Western New England University to come up with questions to pose to city residents.
"One thing we thought of is 'If you were in charge of the city budget how would you prioritize spending?' things like that," said Walsh. "We tried to be a little bit creative."
Walsh said the feedback will help the council create a neighborhood investment strategy to ensure the growth and development being seen downtown spreads throughout the city.
