Republican Governor Phil Scott is shifting two members of his cabinet to new positions.
Scott has appointed current Commerce Secretary Michael Schirling as Commissioner of Public Safety, replacing Thomas Anderson who resigned in July. Labor Commissioner Lindsay Kurrle will replace Schirling as secretary of the Agency of Commerce and Community Development.

Both will begin their new positions on September 3rd.  If a new3 Labor Commissioner has not been appointed by that time Deputy Commissioner Michael Harrington will serve as interim commissioner.

Before joining state government, Schirling served 25 years in the Burlington Police Department, including seven years as chief. Kurlee was co-owner and managed operations for Kurrle Fuels and Transport.

Scott said Monday that Schirling and Kurrle have been incredibly value members of the administration, "working together to support — and attract more employers and employees and tackle some of Vermont's top economic and workforce priorities."
