Report Details NY Official's History Of Harassment

The New York state inspector general’s office has released a report saying Robert Freeman, the former longtime head of the state’s Committee on Open Government, sexually harassed multiple women over many years and abused his position.

Freeman was fired in June 2019

The office says in June it received a written complaint from a female reporter alleging Freeman sexually assaulted her. An investigation found Freeman sent sexually suggestive emails for months via his work account – which Freeman later admitted to. The IG’s report also says the Department of State, which oversees the open government committee, was aware of similar complaints dating back to 2003.

Freeman also searched for and saved racy photos on his work computer.
