The Pittsfield, Massachusetts city council will return to in-person meetings on June 22nd.

Council President Peter Marchetti says he welcomes the move back to city hall chambers, which was prompted by Governor Charlie Baker’s recent decision to move up the state’s reopening timeline from August to late June.

“In the beginning, we all had our struggles trying to get used to meeting via Zoom – and I would say that there are still some members of the council that still struggle every meeting with utilizing Zoom,” said Marchetti.

The 11-member body has been meeting virtually since the COVID-19 pandemic began last spring.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
