The New York state Board of Regents says it is canceling this year’s Regents exams due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The federal government has provided New York with a one-year waiver from provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act. The state Education Department says the commissioner will not conduct a review of school and district performance using the 2019-2020 school year data.
With New York schools closed through at least April 15, the 180-day operation requirement has been waived. The rest of the school year in Vermont has already been called off.
