North Adams Establishes Cooling Stations For Hot Weekend

The city of North Adams, Massachusetts is preparing cooling stations for this weekend’s heat.

With forecasts putting the temperatures into the 90s through Sunday, Northern Berkshire County’s largest community will have centers available to residents looking to cool off. They includes the North Adams Public Library and MASS MoCA, where all 01247 zip code dwellers with proof of residency can visit the air conditioned museum for free from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Public parking fees at Windsor Lake are waved for the weekend.

The city offered this information in a press release Friday morning:

  • North Adams Public Library, 74 Church Street; Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Mary Spitzer Senior Center, 116 Ashland Street; Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • The Noel Field splash park is open Friday-Sunday (and every day during the summer) from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and public parking fees will be waived at Windsor Lake from Friday, July 19, through Sunday, July 21.
  • Finally, MASS MoCA welcomes all residents in the 01247 zip code (please bring proof of residency) to visit their air-conditioned museum galleries for free from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
