Nonprofit Pushes For Affordable Housing In Norwich

A Vermont nonprofit housing group is renewing its push to build affordable housing in the town of Norwich following a supportive town vote.
Residents voted 1,575 to 400 to revive an affordable housing fund. A recent town survey showed 22 percent of respondents supported building up to 25 affordable housing units in the next five years.

Twin Pines Housing Executive Director Andrew Winter tells the Valley News the organization is interested in developing affordable housing in Norwich because of "its proximity to major employment centers in the Upper Valley." The nonprofit continues to discuss plans with landowners and an independent group.

Norwich Affordable Housing Subcommittee Co-Chair Creigh Moffatt says the town wants to bring affordable housing at a size that can be supported.
