Dr. Alan Chartock's Morning Commentary

WAMC's Dr. Alan Chartock discusses Joe Donahue's return to The Roundtable, and the first day of written questions from Senators in President Trump's impeachment trial. Attorney Alan Dershowitz argued President Trump's reelection is in the national interest, and therefore any quid pro quo to that end is not impeachable.

Dr. Chartock also comments on his latest Roundtable interview with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and considers whether Chief Justice John Roberts will have to break a tie in Friday's Senate vote over witnesses in the impeachment trial.

Dr. Alan Chartock is professor emeritus at the University at Albany. He hosts the weekly Capitol Connection series, heard on public radio stations around New York. The program, for almost 12 years, highlighted interviews with Governor Mario Cuomo and now continues with conversations with state political leaders. Dr. Chartock also appears each week on The Media Project and The Roundtable and offers commentary on Morning Edition, weekdays at 7:40 a.m.
