A small college in Vermont will close at the end of the spring semester.
In a letter to students, staff and faculty, Green Mountain College President Robert Allen writes the decision to close the college comes after “a tireless pursuit of multiple options.”  He adds that the Board of Trustees felt it was prudent to notify the campus now so people can make arrangements.

Green Mountain College is formalizing student transfer agreements with other colleges, including Paul Smiths in the Adirondacks and Castleton University.

The college in Poultney, Vermont has under 1,000 students and has been open for 185 years.
