The superintendent of the Burlington, Vermont school district is leaving at the end of the school year.
Superintendent Yaw Obeng, hired in 2015, sent a letter to the school district and parents on Wednesday announcing he will step down at the end of June 2020. Obeng cited strong finances and a capital plan in place that addresses aging infrastructure among his accomplishments.
The school board released a statement saying the district is “poised for future success thanks in part to his leadership” and will immediately begin a nationwide search for a replacement.
