Vermont’s Congressional delegation and Burlington officials have announced that the Burlington International Airport will receive federal funding for noise monitoring.

Three grants totaling $6.3 million from the Federal Aviation Administration will be used to soundproof an elementary school located near the airport, establish mobile sound monitoring units and expand the apron near the terminal.

The grants address concerns about increased noise at the airport and allows the airport to accommodate larger aircraft.
