Berkshire Community College is holding a series of debates among candidates in the Pittsfield, Massachusetts municipal election starting Monday.
The college is co-sponsoring the forums along with Pittsfield Community Television and the Pittsfied Gazette. The first two debates are Monday night, with the seven school committee candidates vying for six seats facing off at 6 p.m., followed by the eight candidates for the four at-large city council seats at 7:30 p.m. The following week, Mayor Linda Tyer will debate challenger and at-large city councilor Melissa Mazzeo for a third time on Oct. 28th. The last round of debates will be the following night, when candidates from Wards 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 will each have their own conversations beginning at 6 p.m.
All of the debates are at BCC’s main campus in Pittsfield. The general election is November 5th. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
