Embattled Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert has been suspended by the New York Racing Association. It comes as the Baffert-trained Medina Spirit’s Kentucky Derby victory faces scrutiny following a failed drug test.

Baffert denies wrongdoing. A second test result is forthcoming for Medina Spirit, who was allowed to run in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes in Baltimore and finished third. NYRA says Baffert’s temporary suspension keeps him from entering races or using stable space.

The organization says it will make a final determination about the length and terms of the suspension based on the results of the investigation in Kentucky. Based in California, Baffert typically enters horses in high-profile stakes races at Belmont and Saratoga Race Course.
