Albany Medical Center Hospital is investigating the death of a patient who died in the emergency room.
The patient was brought to Albany Med Wednesday evening by emergency personnel. The hospital says after multiple verbal attempts were made to “deescalate” the patient, medication was administered to calm the patient before it became necessary to restrain the patient to prevent injury to themselves or staff.
The hospital says at this time no cause of death has been determined. An independent autopsy will be conducted. Individuals involved have been placed on administrative leave.
